Bring your data with you
Most of what you need moves by file in an afternoon. This page is the whole list — what imports into Nexa and SIMPL, what you type in once, and what stays behind — so you know before you buy.
Download your clients, expenses and bank history from the tool you use now. Where to find it for each tool is below.
Open the matching import in Nexa or SIMPL and pick the file. Columns are matched by name; if yours don’t match, paste them into our template first.
Run both for a week. Once your clients and numbers look right in Nexa, download a final backup from the old tool and cancel it.

Clients and leads
Columns Business Contact Email Phone Status Type Tags Source Notes
Needs a Business or a Contact column
Columns are matched by header name, so Company, Customer Name, E-mail or Mobile work as they are.
Rows that match an existing client by business name, email or phone are skipped, so re-importing is safe.
Street address does not import yet — keep it in the Notes column.

Expenses
Columns Date Vendor Amount Category
Needs an Amount column
Vendor can also be called Merchant, Payee or Description.
A row with the same vendor, amount and date as an existing expense is skipped.
- Amounts as plain numbers (42.50, not $42.50).
- No commas inside a vendor name.
- Use Nexa's category words: supplies, travel, mileage, meals, software, equipment, utilities, marketing, professional, insurance, rent, payroll, inventory, taxes, other.
Bank and card transactions
Columns Date Description Amount
Downloads from Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Discover, American Express, Citi, BBVA México, Banorte and Santander México are recognized as they come.
Banking can also connect to your bank directly.
What you re-enter once
These don’t import yet. Most people only bring over what is still open — the finished history stays in your export.
- Services and price list. Re-enter your main services in Nexa. Most people bring over their top 10–20 and add the rest as they come up.
- Open invoices. Re-create the invoices that are still unpaid, so you collect them in Nexa. Finish the paid ones where they are.
- Upcoming jobs and recurring work. Add the jobs already on the books for the next few weeks. Calendar events can come over by .ics first.
- Open tasks. Add the ones still open. Closed tasks stay in your export.
What stays behind
- Past invoices and payment history — keep the CSV or PDF export as your record; your bank import carries the money side.
- Job history, notes and photos — download what you need before the old subscription ends. Photo links stop working when you cancel.
- Automations, booking pages, marketing campaigns and review requests — these are settings in the old tool, not data. You set them up again in Nexa if you want them.
Moving your money data into SIMPL
SIMPL is the money side on its own — budget, spending, accounts. It takes your bank history and your old budgeting app.
| Where | File | |
|---|---|---|
| Bank and card transactions | Bank → Import CSV | CSV, OFX, QFX The same bank downloads Nexa recognizes, plus Mint exports. SIMPL can also connect to your bank directly. |
| YNAB budget | Bank → Import from YNAB / Mint / CSV | The YNAB budget export (.json) — brings spending and account names |
| Mint history | Bank → Import from YNAB / Mint / CSV | The Mint transactions CSV |
| Any other spreadsheet of spending | Bank → Import from YNAB / Mint / CSV | CSV with a date, a description and an amount |
Where to find the export in your current tool
Menu names change between versions. If the path below doesn’t match, search the tool’s help for “export”. If it only gives you Excel (.xlsx), open the file and Save As CSV.

Any other tool
Look in Settings, Reports or your account page for Export or Download, and choose CSV. Export clients (or customers, contacts), expenses, and your bank or card history. If a column name doesn’t match, open the file, copy the columns into the matching template, and import that.
Import templates
Each template has the exact column names the importer looks for, with sample rows. Replace the rows with yours and keep the header line.
- Clients and leads (Nexa CRM) nexa-clients.csv
- Expenses (Nexa) nexa-expenses.csv
- Bank or card transactions (Nexa Banking or SIMPL) bank-transactions.csv
Questions people ask before they switch
Can I import my invoices?
Not yet. Re-create the invoices that are still unpaid so you collect them in Nexa, and keep the export of past invoices as your record. Your bank import brings the money side across.
Do I lose my client addresses?
Addresses don’t import into the client record yet. Put the address in the Notes column of the client template and it comes across with the client.
What if I import the same file twice?
Clients that match by business name, email or phone are skipped, and expenses that match by vendor, amount and date are skipped. Re-importing doesn’t make doubles.
How long does it take?
The exports are the slow part — a few minutes each. Each import takes seconds. Re-entering services and open invoices depends on how many you have.
Can I keep my old tool running while I try it?
Yes, and you should. Cancel only once your clients and numbers check out in Nexa.
