Leaving Rocket Money?

What Rocket Money costs, what it does that we don't, and which of our two apps fits if you go.

Full disclosure: SIMPL and Nexa are both our products, so we have a stake in this. Rocket Money's prices and features below are from its own pages, linked, so you can check them.

Bottom Line

Rocket Money's free plan costs nothing. Premium is pay-what-you-want, typically $7 to $14 a month, and its bill negotiation takes roughly 35 to 60 percent of the first year's savings. We make two apps you buy once that do the money side on your own device. SIMPL ($199 once) is for your own or your household's money. Nexa ($279 once) has the same money tools plus the tools to run a business. Neither one cancels or negotiates bills for you. If that service is why you pay Rocket Money, stay.

SIMPL or Nexa?

SIMPL

$199 once

Your personal or household money. Budgets, bank sync through Plaid (or bank files you import), the repeating-charge finder (Drain Guard), net worth, goals and debt payoff. This is the direct Rocket Money replacement.

Nexa

$279 once

You also run a business or a side hustle. Nexa has the same money tools, plus quotes, invoices, scheduling, jobs, a client list and business books. One app for both, so you don't buy SIMPL as well.

Get Nexa — $279

If you're not sure, start from what you'd use this week. Only tracking your own spending means SIMPL. Sending an invoice or booking a client means Nexa.

Can it pay for itself?

SIMPL is $199 once, about $17 a month over its first year. Its Drain Guard reads your expenses (from a linked bank, an imported statement, or ones you type in), finds the charges that repeat, and adds them up by the month. Keep or Cut then walks you through them one at a time. Cancel $17 a month of charges you'd forgotten about and SIMPL has paid for itself inside the first year, before you count the Rocket Money bill you'd stop paying. Nexa has the same Drain Guard.

It depends on what you find and what you cancel, so we don't promise a number.

What Rocket Money Is Built For

Rocket Money (formerly Truebill, owned by Rocket Companies) finds your subscriptions, tracks spending against budget categories, and offers paid help cancelling subscriptions and negotiating bills.

Read on each linked page in October 2026. Check them again before you decide; Rocket Money's pricing page sends you into the app, so the article above is its own published summary.

Our Read: Does Switching Make Sense?

If you're on the free plan and it shows you what you need, switching to either app costs you money. Don't switch to save money.

On Premium the math changes with what you chose to pay. At $7 a month Rocket Money is $252 over 3 years; at $14 it is $504. SIMPL is $199 once on one device, and Nexa is $279 once. Add Cloud Sync ($4.99 a month) to use either on your phone and computer, and SIMPL comes to $378.64 over 3 years. That is more than Premium at $7 and less than Premium at $14.

The real difference is who does the work. Rocket Money's paid service will cancel subscriptions and negotiate bills for you, for a fee. SIMPL and Nexa find the charges and line them up for you to decide on, then you cancel them yourself and keep all of what you save.

The Cost, and Where It Comes From

Rocket Money: from Rocket Money's pricing article, checked October 2026. Premium is whatever you choose to pay, so the table shows both ends of the typical range.

Over 3 years, at today's pricesTotal
Rocket Money, free plan$0
Rocket Money Premium at $7/mo$252
Rocket Money Premium at $14/mo$504
Rocket Money Premium+ at $15/mo$540
SIMPL, one device$199
SIMPL + Cloud Sync on all your devices$378.64
Nexa, one device$279
Nexa + Cloud Sync on all your devices$458.64

Bill negotiation fees aren't in the table, because they depend on what Rocket Money saves you.

Moving Your Data

Before you cancel, screenshot or write down the subscriptions Rocket Money found, so you have the list. Then link your bank in SIMPL or Nexa, or download your bank and card history straight from the bank (CSV, OFX or QFX) and import it. Drain Guard rebuilds the list of repeating charges from your transactions. Budgets and goals you set up again.

Every import, with templates: Bring your data. Keep Rocket Money until the new list checks out.
