What EveryDollar costs, what it does better, when to stay, and what moves if you go.
EveryDollar's cheapest plan that does the core job is $17.99/month — $215.88 a year, $647.64 over 3 years at today's price. SIMPL is $199 once for budgeting, bank sync, expense tracking, goals and debt payoff on your own device, so it costs less than EveryDollar after 12 months. What SIMPL is not: software someone hosts for you with a support desk. If EveryDollar's strengths below are why you pay for it, stay.
SIMPL is $199 once, about $17 a month over its first year. Its Drain Guard reads your expenses (from a linked bank, an imported statement, or ones you type in), finds the charges that repeat, and adds them up by the month. Keep or Cut then walks you through them one at a time. Cancel $17 a month of charges you'd forgotten about and SIMPL has paid for itself inside the first year, before you count the EveryDollar bill you'd stop paying.
It depends on what you find and what you cancel, so we don't promise a number.
EveryDollar is built for individuals and couples who want to run a zero-based monthly budget, planning where every dollar goes before spending it. (ramseysolutions.com)
What people outside EveryDollar and outside SIMPL say:
Read on each linked page in October 2026. Check them again before you decide; vendors change plans often.
Free EveryDollar costs nothing. If you budget by hand and are happy typing in transactions, SIMPL at $199 does not save you money, and there is no reason to switch.
The comparison only starts with Premium. Billed yearly, Premium is $239.97 over 3 years. SIMPL on one device is $199 once; add Cloud Sync to use it on your phone and computer and it is $378.64 over 3 years, more than EveryDollar billed yearly. Against Premium billed monthly ($647.64 over 3 years), SIMPL costs less either way.
If you follow the Baby Steps and use Premium's live coaching and Q&A, that is the part SIMPL does not replace. SIMPL has goals and a debt payoff planner, but no coaching and no Ramsey program.
Your history is the awkward part. EveryDollar exports one month per CSV, on the website, on Premium only, so three years of history is 36 downloads. It is usually simpler to download your bank and card history straight from the bank (CSV, OFX or QFX), which SIMPL imports, and keep the EveryDollar files as your record.

SIMPL imports bank and card transactions (CSV, OFX, QFX); ynab budget (The YNAB budget export (.json) — brings spending and account names); mint history (The Mint transactions CSV); any other spreadsheet of spending (CSV with a date, a description and an amount). Budgets and goals you set up again.

How SIMPL works for specific households and earners, with the prices those budgets actually carry:
At $17.99/month — the cheapest EveryDollar plan that does the core job, per EveryDollar's pricing page in October 2026 — it is $215.88 a year and $647.64 over 3 years at today's price. SIMPL is $199 once.
EveryDollar's strengths above — zero-based budgeting and dave Ramsey baby steps — are the reason you pay for it, and you like how EveryDollar does them. Switching tools costs time; it is not worth it to save money on something that already works for you. You want EveryDollar's hosted app to keep syncing everything for you with no setup on your side. You want software someone else hosts, with a support desk and a roadmap you can ask for features on. SIMPL is software you own and run yourself.
Yes for transactions: SIMPL imports bank CSV, OFX and QFX files, YNAB budget exports, Mint CSVs and any spending CSV with a date, description and amount. Budgets and goals you set up again.
It is not hosted for you: your data lives on your device. Syncing across devices is optional Cloud Sync, $4.99/month. No vendor support desk or roadmap to lobby — you buy it once and own it. Imports cover bank files (CSV, OFX, QFX), YNAB and Mint exports and a generic CSV. Anything else you enter by hand.
