New York has a 4-10.9% income tax. Progressive income tax up to 10.9%. NYC adds 3.08-3.88% city income tax. Self-employment tax burden among highest in US. MTA payroll tax in metro area. High workers comp rates.
When evaluating software costs, factor in your effective tax rate. A $684/year software expense is partially deductible — but Nexa at $279 once is a one-time deduction that eliminates the recurring expense entirely.
Whether you call it invoicing, a program for jobs, or a invoicing system — most vinyl record dealers in Buffalo cobble together QuickBooks, Wave, Square plus other subscriptions. That's $684/year in tool subscriptions. Over the next 5 years at today's prices, that stack costs $3,420.
With Nexa, you own your tools. Your CRM, invoicing, calendar tool, jobs, time tracking, and financial tools — in a single program. One click books a client. One click generates an invoice. No switching tabs. No duct-tape integrations. No add-on costs. It's a buy once — cut costs the moment you switch. For vinyl record dealers in Buffalo weighing the switch, the 30-day money-back guarantee covers the migration window — you can run Nexa in parallel with your existing subscriptions, verify the workflow handles your real client load, and only cancel the monthly tools once you are confident the data and processes have settled in.
This morning I'm working through a collection I bought last week, 200 records for $600 out of a basement. I pull each one, check the sleeve and label, and tilt the vinyl under a bright lamp looking for scuffs, hairlines and warps. The ones that look good go on the turntable for a spot check of the quiet passages, because a record can look Very Good Plus and play Good. I read the matrix numbers etched in the dead wax to tell a first pressing from a reissue, and that's where the money is: maybe 10 are worth real money, 50 are mid-range, and the rest go in the dollar bins. The good ones get a run on the vacuum cleaning machine, new poly inner sleeves and outer sleeves. Then I photograph labels, covers and runouts, grade the media and sleeve separately, and write listings on Discogs and eBay, matched to the exact release so a collector knows which pressing they're buying. A first pressing I listed last week sold overnight, so I pack it in a proper record mailer with corrugated stiffeners, take the disc out of the jacket so it can't split the seam in transit, and drop it at the post office. Once the marketplace fee and the payment fee come out and I've paid for the mailer and postage, I wonder whether the hour of grading was worth it. In the evening I tally what I've sold from the lot against the $600 I paid and answer two buyers asking for more photos.
That is the work Nexa is built around: the job, the client, the hours and the invoice live in one place, so the paperwork side of the day doesn't need a second shift.
Every one of those was bought once and earns its keep for years. Nexa is priced the same way: $279 once, and it keeps working whether business is busy or slow.

Open on Reddit →We build a vinyl record dealer's guide the same way every time, and we'd rather you trust it than take it on faith. Nexa is our product, so the test we hold ourselves to is simple: a tool only "wins" a job here when it genuinely does that job better for a vinyl record dealer — and where something free, open-source, or buy-once does it better, we say so and link you to it. Where Nexa falls short (payroll is the honest example), we name the alternative outright.
Found something out of date? Prices change and we don't catch every move the day it happens. This guide is published and maintained by the Nexa team; if a figure here is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it — getting it right matters more to us than the sale.
